AMA6021:
Advanced Topics in Theoretical Physics

Approximately 40 weeks, 15 credits (RTP page).

Over the course of an academic year, the students will read an introductory textbook on an advanced topic in theoretical physics and attempt the exercises and problems in the book. There will be weekly one-hour meetings in which the current section of the book and its problems are discussed. Topics include string theory, quantum field theory, cosmology, quantum information, etc. Due to the nature of the contact hours, the number of students that can take part is limited to five.

This year, we will be reading:
Probability Theory - the Logic of Science, by E. T. Jaynes.

Previous books:

  1. A First Course in String Theory, by Barton Zwiebach.
  2. Quantum Field Theory, by Lewis H. Ryder.
